Long long ago (like in Oct 2008) I submitted one of my short stories (written the unconventional way) to a Short Story Contest conducted by Mirage Books. Later did they tell me that my story won the contest and it will be published along with 49 other short stories written by Indian and Foreign authors. Finally the day has come – the book is out this week – titled ‘Inner Voices’ - and I now call myself a published author! *modesty, a virtue!*

Here is an excerpt from that story titled “Million Steps” which most of you might have read. I had to remove it from this blog due to copyright requirement.

You stood for a moment to see the city beneath. Lit. Your eyes widened. Glitz. Panoramic view. Of the city. Of my heart. You loved the scenic view. You thanked me for bringing you there. I thanked the city for not having a power shutdown that night. Can we sit here and look at the city go to sleep you asked. Am I used to saying No? I sat beside you. Melting all over again. You moved close to me. Held my hand. You started to read my palm now. The lines are messed up I said. Time to untangle you said and ran your finger over it. Ticklish, it wasn’t. You were defining my future. Re-defining if I can call it. You looked at the mole in my index finger and smiled. What does that mean I asked. I don’t know but it looks cute you said. I thanked God….

For more mush, you got to buy the book ;) It is available at NONE of the stores near you (!) at this point of time, unless you live in Pune. But, you do get it online - Rediff and Amazon.

Sadly, I haven’t received the book yet, but couldn’t wait to post the excitement on this blog and share it with you all. It is your comments and feedbacks that make me write more and better. Thank you for following this blog and letting me know your feedback all the while.

Congratulations Sophia, you did it too!

Cheers!
